Chris Inglis appointed for first of its kind position
On Thursday, the Senate unanimously voted to approve the nomination of Chris Inglis as the very first White House national cyber director. This position comes as the nation has faced increasing cyber-attacks – most notably a ransomware attack on the Colonial Pipeline. The position was created by the recent National Defense Authorization Act.
Director Inglis will be in charge of managing and coordinating the federal government’s cybersecurity policy. In a recent speech at the White House, the president stressed the need for this new position saying, “I think it’s becoming clear to everyone that we have to do more than is being done now, and the federal government can be significant value-added in having that happen.”
